Wonderful news from the province:

“Manitoba is launching a new strategy to promote and support breastfeeding, recognizing the many benefits the practice has for mothers and babies and setting a goal of having 85 per cent of mothers begin breastfeeding their babies at birth”

See the press release for more info. A few highlights: the province’s birthing hospitals will strive to earn Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation in the next few years… a very important goal! A human milk bank for Manitoba is also a priority….I’m thrilled to read this!

The province has declared October 1 to 7 Breastfeeding Week in Manitoba.
